PROFESSIONAL BIO

Maya Frost is an interdisciplinary thinker, researcher, and practitioner exploring how humans remain curious, imaginative, and engaged in an age of uncertainty. A futurist with a focus on humane flourishing, she examines how the cultivation of attention, longing, and imagination can expand adaptive capacity.

Her current work explores what actually leads to agency and participation in the face of overwhelming change. She developed and tested Lucid Longing, a practice for paying attention to what you long for, imagining a future that gives that longing shape, and identifying small ways to begin moving toward it.

Since early 2020, she has worked with hundreds of collapse-aware individuals in more than 20 countries, helping them transform their despairlysis into full and creative engagement with life.

Previously, Maya's writings and talks on mindfulness, creativity, and breakthrough thinking reached audiences in more than 100 countries and were featured in over 150 media outlets worldwide. Her book, The New Global Student, was published by Crown (Random House) in 2009.

An American who has lived in seven countries, Maya is now based in Amsterdam and speaks internationally on the topic of longing and its implications for both imagined and crafted futures.

WHY NOW?

We are experiencing escalating climate anxiety, anticipatory grief, and existential dread as we recognize that the future presents unprecedented losses and challenges.

Maya offers a unique, transdisciplinary perspective on how individuals can respond to these challenges without denial, doom, or disengagement.
